Protected Well Building
The people of Gorokolo village in Goja Boma’ after the WASH information analysis carried out in June 2010 in the community, under the leadership of the Advocacy team members Emmanuel Moro and Hygiene Promoter Joseph Guya mobilized the people with the help of that headman Festo Moi. The headman grouped the people according to households, five households were able to gather materials like sand, stones, bricks, carpet and wire mesh for construction of a shallow well. The headman and two mobilizers approached a community based organisation called CAFT for technical know how and personnel. This CBO also contributed 5 bags of cement towards the construction of the swallow well. The 5 households, who were involved in the collection of materials, also dug the swallow well and even helped the technical personnel with the necessary labour. The construction of the swallow was completed within 4 days. These households are now happy of their new protected swallow well and to keep it clean, have prepared to fence it and have the water treated before consumption.
